RCB’s record win
Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 64 off 27 balls and Elis Parry’s 34 balls with the help of 57 runs in 34 balls defeated the previous champion Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of the Women’s Premier League. RCB achieved a target of 202 runs for the win with 9 balls left. Richa hit 7 fours and 4 sixes in her innings. At the same time, Parry hit 6 fours and two sixes. Finally Kanika Ahuja scored an unbeaten 30 off 13 balls.
Captain Smriti Mandhana (9) and her salute partner Danny Wiat Hodge (4) were dismissed cheaply after which Parry took over the innings with Raghavi Bisht (25) and added 86 runs for the third wicket. After this, Richa took the front.
Gujarat made a big score
Earlier, with the help of half -centuries by captain Ashley Gardner and Beth Muni, Gujarat Giants scored 201 runs for five wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Muni scored 56 runs in 42 balls with the help of eight fours while Gardner scored an unbeaten innings of 79 off 37 balls which included three fours and 8 sixes. When 41 runs were hanging on the board, Laura Volwart and D Hemlata returned to the pavilion but Gardner and Muni took out the team from these tremors. Australian batsmen added 44 runs for the third wicket. Muni was dismissed by leg -spinner Prema Rawat, whom Mandhana caught caught.
