The Central Government on Saturday, on the eve of Republic Day, announced the names for the country’s highest civilian honor – Padma Award 2025. 7 celebrities including Sharda Sinha, Osamu Suzuki have been awarded Padma Vibhushan. 19 personalities including Pankaj Udhas and Sushil Modi have been awarded Padma Bhushan. Apart from these, 113 celebrities will be honored with Padma Shri this time, whose names have been announced.
Padma awards, one of the country’s highest civilian honours, are awarded in three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The award recognizes excellence in diverse fields such as arts, social work, public affairs, science, engineering, business, industry, medicine, literature, education, sports and civil services.

‘Padma Vibhushan’ is given for exceptional and distinguished service. ‘Padma Bhushan’ is given for distinguished service of high order and ‘Padma Shri’ is given for distinguished service in any field. These awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day. These awards are presented by the President of India in formal ceremonies held at Rashtrapati Bhavan every year around March/April.

For the year 2025, the President has approved the conferment of 139 Padma awards including 1 double case (in double case, the award is counted as one). This list includes 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri awards. Among the awardees, 23 are women and the list also includes 10 individuals from the Foreigner/NRI/PIO/OCI category and 13 posthumous awardees.
