WPL: Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians in just 87 balls, a strong victory recorded by 9 wicket

New Delhi: Delhi Capitals have hit the first place in the Women’s Premier League table by defeating former champions Mumbai Indians by nine wickets while performing all -round. The first bowling Delhi team stopped the winner of the first session Mumbai Indians for 123 runs for nine. Jonasen bowled brilliantly and took three important wickets for 25 runs in four overs. In response, captain Meg Lanning for Delhi gave Delhi an unbeaten 60 in 49 balls and Shefali Verma gave Delhi a great start to scored 43 off 28 balls. Both scored 85 runs in just 59 balls.

Shefali was caught by fast bowler Amanjot Kaur at the hands of Emelia Ker on deep midwicket. Shefali hit four fours and two sixes in her innings. Lanning returned to the form with his innings of nine fours. Jemima Rowrigs remained unbeaten after scoring 15 runs off 10 balls. Delhi achieved the target with 33 balls left.

Mumbai Indians batting flops

Earlier, Jonasen sent Mumbai Indians batsmen Net Skiver Bunt, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and G. Kamalini to the pavilion. After winning the toss and bowling first, Delhi started a good start. The Skiver Bunt gave Jonasen a return catches in the 14th over. Sajeevan Sajna also returned to Delhi captain Meg Lanning by giving easy catch in extra cover off Minnu Mani. Mumbai’s wickets kept falling continuously and Zee Kamalini also could not play the role of a troubleshooter. He was sent to the pavilion by Jonasen in the 18th over. At this time, Mumbai Indians had 104 runs for seven wickets. Finally, Mumbai did not have any batsman left who could score fast in two overs, so that the team reached 120.
