The Congress has announced a nationwide protest against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and other party leaders for the charge sheet filed by the ED in the National Herald Money Laundering case. The party has issued a circular to all the State Congress Committees (PCCs) in this regard.
‘Perform outside Ed office in their respective states’
The Congress has directed that the state committees should perform outside the offices of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) located in their respective states. The Congress alleges that the Gandhi family is being targeted under political vengeance and the party will fight it firmly.
ED filed charge sheet
In the National Herald Money Laundering case, the ED on Tuesday filed a prosecution complaint (charge sheet) against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Congress Overseas chief Sam Pitroda in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. The ED has also included the names of Suman Dubey and others in the charge sheet in this case.
Property worth Rs 64 crore seized
The hearing of taking cognizance of the charge sheet has been decided on 25 April. In this case, the ED has already seized assets worth more than Rs 64 crore. A complaint has been filed by the ED against Rahul, Sonia Gandhi and others under sections 44 and 45 of PMLA, alleging that the accused persons committed a crime of money laundering under section 3.
The ED has been instructed to file a clean copy of the complaint and the related papers and the OCR (Redable) copy in the court before the next hearing. Congress leaders have questioned the ED’s action and targeted the central government.
