Perth: After the mega auction held before the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League, many players lost their relationship with their old teams. Rishabh Pant is also included among them. Pant was a part of Delhi Capitals and captained the team, but now he will be seen playing for Lucknow Super Giants. The team bought him by making the biggest bid in IPL history for Rs 27 crore. Now that he is parting ways after spending 9 long years in Delhi Capitals, he has thanked everyone in an emotional post.

Pant became the most expensive player in the history of IPL, released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the mega auction in Jeddah. He was bought by LSG for a record price of Rs 27 crore. India’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Pant is preparing for a new journey in the IPL. He wrote a heart-touching post for his former team Delhi Capitals. While bidding goodbye to the Delhi Capitals franchise, Pant recalled how he was associated with the team as a youth, which was with him at all difficult times.

Pant wrote- From the thrill on the field to the wonderful moments off the field, the journey with Delhi Capitals has been amazing. I had never even imagined this journey. I came here as a youth and over the last 9 years we have grown together. Pant impressed everyone with his aggressive game in the Under-19 World Cup 2016. In the same year, the team added him and retained him for every season. Pant, who has played 111 matches so far, is the highest run scorer for Delhi Capitals in the history of the tournament. He has scored 3248 runs at an average of 35.31.

He further wrote – The thing that makes this journey meaningful is you – the fans… You hugged me, encouraged me and stood by me during the most difficult phase of my life. I keep your love and support in my heart as I move forward. I look forward to entertaining you whenever I take the field. Thank you for being my family and making this journey so special.

Pant also captained Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2021, 2022 and 2024 seasons. Under his captaincy, DC stood sixth last year with seven wins and the same number of losses. He is currently in Australia with Team India to play the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
