Allahabad High Court is strict on ignoring the order, summoned DGP and Saharanpur SSP – Allahabad High Court Summons UP DGP and Saharanpur SSP in Contempt Case ntc

Allahabad High Court has summoned Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) and Saharanpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in the matter of disobeying the court order. Both the officers have been directed to appear personally in the court on 27 January 2025.

While giving this order, Justice Salil Kumar Rai said that both the officers should appear with an affidavit and explain why the earlier order of the court was not followed. After this, the court fixed the date of January 27, 2025 for the next hearing of the case.

Alka Sethi had filed contempt application
This case pertains to a contempt petition, which was filed by a person named Alka Sethi. The petitioner alleges that despite the court order, the Saharanpur SSP and other officials did not investigate his complaint.

The order of May 2023 was not followed
The court had directed to register an FIR against the revenue officials at Biharigarh Police Station, Saharanpur on May 15, 2023 and to conduct proper investigation of the complaints registered on IGRS/dashboard on August 12, 2022 and January 27, 2023. The court had also ordered the DGP to get the matter investigated by a senior superintendent of police and complete the investigation within four months.

Allegations made in contempt notice
The contempt notice said that the DGP and Saharanpur SSP neither followed the court order nor investigated the FIR. No concrete action was taken in the matter, which clearly shows disregard for the court order. Now, in view of the strict stance of the court, DGP and SSP will have to appear on 27 January 2025 to present their side in this matter.
