Unsold Urvil Patel hits fastest century in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in IPL, Rishabh Pant’s record broken

New Delhi: In a match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a batsman from Gujarat scored a century in just 28 balls, while playing an unbeaten inning of 113 runs in 35 balls. This is the fastest century in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history. He has shattered the record of Indian team’s star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. The name of this batsman was Urvil Patel and he was playing for Gujarat against Tripura under the captaincy of Akshar Patel. In the match played today i.e. on 27th November, he hit 7 fours and 12 sixes in 35 balls. He scored runs at a strike rate of 322.86. This is the reason why his team achieved the target of 156 runs in just 10.2 overs. Actually, this match was played at Emerald High School Ground, Indore. While batting in the match, Tripura scored 155 runs for 8 wickets. For that, Sridam Paul scored the maximum of 57 runs in 49 balls hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes, while Srinivas Sharath played an unbeaten inning of 29 runs and Abhijeet Sarkar played an unbeaten inning of 15 runs. For Gujarat, captain Akshar Patel could take only one wicket, while Nagwaswala took 3 wickets and Chintan Gaja took 2 wickets.

In reply, the Gujarat team, which came to bat, must have felt that it would have to struggle to achieve this target, but it did not happen. Urvil Patel came to open for the team along with Aryan Desai. In no time, he completed his half-century by hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes in 15 balls. This is the second fastest half century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, while this century is the fastest century in 28 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Earlier, while playing for Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2018, Rishabh Pant had scored a century in just 32 balls against Himachal Pradesh. Talking about the overall record, it is in the name of Sahil Chauhan, who scored a century in 27 balls for Estonia against Cyprus. Let us tell you that Urvil was a part of Gutrat Titans in 2023. This season the team reached the finals and lost to Chennai Super Kings.
