Before I die, I should write something for the country, my wish remains, said Heeramandi lyricist AM Turaz – Sanjay Leela Bhansali Heeramandi lyricist AM Turaz wrote for films to earn good money sahitya aajtak 2024 tmovk

Poet, AM Turaj came on the stage of Sahitya Aaj Tak 2024 and created a gathering. Turaj also hummed some songs. Told that he likes Sanjay Leela Bhansali because he knows the importance of songs in films. He also understands the song. Along with this, Turaj also talked about his struggle and journey from Muzaffarnagar to Mumbai. AM Turaj, poet said- I have been writing for 22 years, but this is the first time I have come to a program on Sahitya Aaj Tak.
Journey from Muzaffarnagar to Mumbai
My journey was very difficult. But now it seems it was easy. The film industry is a huge platform. There must be difficulties to reach here. Because we are ready for such a big platform. So we reach here only after going through a difficult path.
I started writing in the year 1999. I didn’t think that I would go to Mumbai and do anything. I thought I would do small programs. But after studying, I felt that I should go to Mumbai and then I had to fight that battle. I convinced my parents to go to a big city and then left for Mumbai.
I have set my limits
it’s not like that at all. If something is imposed just because it is there, it does not last long. There are difficulties. To live and eat. And we don’t know people. Those kinds of problems happen. But these do not matter. So I have not seen so many difficulties. My journey from village to city has been a long one. But I also made my place in the industry. I could have done more films than I have done, but I set my limits. I wrote for good films and reached here.
How important is it for a writer to have a good music director?
I always say lyrics come second, melody comes first. So there are many songs which may not have reached you people, because the tune work in them was a little less.
How is Sanjay sir’s understanding of music?
Ismail Darbar ji had narrated one of my songs to Sanjay ji. In 2005, when he was making ‘Saawariya’, he had called to meet. I could not work in this film. But then after a few years they called me again and I worked. Now I worked with him again in ‘Hiramandi’.
I used to listen to poetry since childhood. I got motivation from the poets I listened to. After that, whatever poetry I did, I wrote songs, it is 99 percent my own experience. I wanted to say big things to people, so I am doing that through my poetry. Poetry is my medium to express my thoughts. Everyone listens to poetry, so I am saying my point till date.
I prefer writing songs or ghazals for films.
I like writing songs for films because I get more money from here. As far as poetry is concerned, it resides in the soul. Money has its place, but what the soul needs is also important. In films, music and poetry are as important as actors. Whenever I get a chance, I go to gatherings and express my views. Because it has its own distinct fun.
You have been writing for so long, which is your closest creation?
All the songs I have written are loved by any creator. The best song is ‘Aayat’. Rest, I like to sing Arijit Singh’s song ‘Muskurahat’ from ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
All I want is to write something for the country before I die. I haven’t yet written what I think I’m made for. So that’s what I want to write.
money, author or status
I like to sit and recite poetry. If you write it while sitting in a closed room, it doesn’t matter. But yes, it feels great when we get love from the audience.
