Mumbai: Ashwani Kumar created history while playing for Mumbai Indians. He made his debut in the Indian Premier League against Kolkata Knight Riders on 31 March. In this match, Hardik Pandya made three changes, in which Ashwani, Will Jacks and Vignesh Puthur were included in the team. Ashwani has set such a record for the first time in the history of IPL. He destroyed KKR’s batting with four wickets in his first three overs.

23 -year -old Ashwani has become the first Indian player to take four wickets on IPL debut. He performed brilliantly with 4/24 figures. Ashwani took wickets of Ajinkya Rahane, Rinku Singh, Manish Pandey and Andre Russell. Thanks to his brilliant bowling, KKR’s team was reduced to just 116 runs. He dismissed Rahane on the very first ball. He became the third Mumbai player to take wicket on the first ball on IPL debut after Ali Murtaza and Aljari Joseph.

Ashwani Kumar, born in Mohali, is a 23 -year -old left -handed fast bowler. Mumbai Indians bought him at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. Ashwani plays for Punjab in domestic cricket. He made his debut in first class cricket in December 2019. He then also played in the other two formats. He made his debut in List A in December 2021 and T20 in October 2022. Ashwani has played two first class matches, four list A and the same T20 matches before making a IPL debut in the IPL for Mumbai.
