IND vs AUS 3rd Test Day 2 Highlights: The third match of the five-match Test series between India and Australia is going on at Gabba, Brisbane. Two days of play have ended in this match. By stumps on the second day (15 December), Australia had scored 405 runs at the loss of seven wickets in its first innings. Alex Carey is not out after scoring 45 runs and Mitchell Starc is not out after scoring 7 runs.
Boom Boom Bumrah made a comeback, but…
If seen, the Indian team made a good start on the second day of this match. Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah dismissed both Australia’s openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney cheaply. From here Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith made a partnership of 37 runs for the third wicket. This partnership was broken by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who let Labuschagne go. At the time of Labuschagne’s dismissal, Australia’s score was 75 runs for three wickets.

Now it seemed that the Indian team would bowl out Australia on a low score. But Travis Head and experienced Steve Smith stood at the crease in such a way that both of them died after playing century innings. Head-Smith together made a partnership of 241 runs for the fourth wicket. Smith played an innings of 101 runs in 190 balls, which included 12 fours. Whereas Head scored 152 runs facing 160 balls. During this period he hit 18 fours.
When Indian captain Rohit Sharma took the second new ball, Jasprit Bumrah made a comeback for the Indian team by taking three wickets. With this, Australia’s score became 327 runs for 6 wickets. But then there was a partnership of 58 runs for the seventh wicket between captain Pat Cummins and wicketkeeper batsman Alex Carey, which took Australia back into control.
Jadeja did not work, Akash Deep and Siraj remained ineffective
Except Jasprit Bumrah, the performance of the rest of the Indian bowlers was not commendable at all. If Bumrah had got the support of the other bowlers, perhaps the Australian team would have been all out. Apart from Bumrah, other Indian bowlers also proved to be expensive and all of them had an economy rate of more than 3.
Jasprit Bumrah has given 72 runs in 25 overs and taken 5 wickets. In contrast, Mohammad Siraj has taken one wicket after spending 97 runs at an economy rate of 4.30. Whereas the third fast bowler Akash Deep had an economy rate of 3.20 and he gave away 78 runs. Spinner Ravindra Jadeja also proved expensive and gave 76 runs in 16 overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy has bowled 13 overs so far, in which he has taken one wicket for 65 runs.
The Indian team currently seems to be lagging behind in this match because the Australian team has made a big score. Now there will be hope for a strong performance from the Indian batsmen to return to the competition. However, before that, the Indian bowlers will have to dismiss Australia quickly on the third day of the match.
