With the beginning of the new year, a huge crowd of devotees was seen in temples across the country. Devotees welcomed the New Year with prayers and blessings of God. In famous temples like Kashi Vishwanath of Varanasi, Govinddev Ji of Jaipur, Jagannath Puri of Odisha and Kalkaji Temple of Delhi, long queues of devotees started forming since morning. Ayodhya left Agra behind in terms of tourists. There is no space even to set foot in the big temples of the country on the occasion of New Year.

On the first date of the year 2025, the people of India have created a new record in visiting Hindu Gods and Goddesses in temples. More than 5 lakh people visited the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 1. So, there are 7 lakhs in Kashi Vishwanath Temple, 6 lakhs in Mahakal Temple of Ujjain, 4 lakhs in Shri Tirupati Temple of Andhra Pradesh, 5 lakhs in Shri Jagannath Puri Temple of Odisha and 3 lakhs on the ghats of river Ganga in Haridwar. Lakhs of people have arrived.

This crowd coming to temples across the country tells two things. First thing- Indian people do not just party on New Year. Secondly, there is a belief among people that if they start the new year with the blessings of Gods and Goddesses, then the whole year will be auspicious for them.

More people flocked to Ram temple to visit than Taj Mahal

This year, the number of people who visited the ‘Taj Mahal’ was 16 crore 70 lakh, while the number of people who visited the Ram temple in Ayodhya was 18 crore 10 lakh. This number is 1 crore 40 lakh more than that of Taj Mahal. This is the first time in the history of India that more people have come to visit a temple than the Taj Mahal. Kashi Vishwanath Temple is also in this list, where 8 crore 30 lakh people will visit in the year 2024, 2.5 crore people will visit Tirupati Temple in Andhra Pradesh, 3 crore people will visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar and 73 lakh people will visit the Dargah of Ajmer Sharif. Let us tell you that these figures are based on different estimates.

Welcome New Year with Ganga Aarti

In our country, on the occasion of New Year, there has been a tradition of telling how the New Year was welcomed at Sydney’s Opera House, New York’s Times Square or Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. But this has happened for the second consecutive year, when it is being discussed in the world’s media that the New Year in India has been welcomed with Ganga Aarti at different places.

Heavy traffic jam in Delhi on New Year

On the occasion of New Year, many roads in Delhi were jammed. Long queues formed at major metro stations, huge crowds gathered at India Gate, Connaught Place and religious places across the city on New Year’s Day. There was a huge crowd on the duty lane at C-Hexagon at India Gate, causing traffic jam in the area. Crowds of devotees also gathered at Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, ancient Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, Akshardham Temple, Jhandewalan Temple, Khatu Shyam Temple on GT Road and Jagannath Temple in South Delhi.
