The Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) will soon release the Central Contract List for the men’s team. The Central Contract list was released on February 28 last year. But this time there is a delay. According to the report, middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer may again get the central contract, which are performing brilliantly. Let me tell you that Shreyas Iyer and Ishaan Kishan were excluded from the Central Contract List last year as both of them adopted a loud attitude towards domestic cricket. However, the situation regarding Ishaan Kishan is not clear. Ishaan has been away from international cricket for a long time.
What is the rule for Central Contract?
The Central Contract of BCCI is an annual retainership system that classifies and rewards cricketers based on their performance and contribution to Indian cricket. According to the rules of BCCI, the Central Contract is given to those players who have played 3 Test matches or 8 ODIs or 10 T20 matches in a session. On fulfilling this criteria, you become eligible for retainership.
The BCCI contract list contains 4 categories. 7 crores in A Plus (A+) category, 5 in A, 3 in B and 1 crore in C category are available annually. There are also some rules to include players in all these categories. In A+, players are kept in all three formats (Tests, ODI and T20).
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Jaspreet Bumrah are currently in the A+ category. However, Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja retired from T20 International last year. In such a situation, it has to be seen whether they get a place in the A+ category this time. According to sources, these three will be retained in A+ grade with Jaspreet Bumrah. Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja played an important role in India’s title win in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Players involved in central contract get these facilities
The BCCI takes full care of the players involved in the Central Contract. For example, any player involved in the Central Contract can recover free in BCCI’s Central of Excellence (Coe) in Bangalore. Players not only get world class training facility here, as well as travel allowance.
Let us know that last year 30 players got the central contract. Later, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurael were also included in the Central Contract List. Apart from this, BCCI gave fast bowling contracts to fast bowlers Akash Deep, Yash Dayal, Umran Malik, Vijaykumar Vaishak and Vidwath Kverppa.
