Samajwadi Party Dalit MP Ramji Lal Suman’s comment on Rana Sanga has brought a new turn in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. After this statement, not only the Rajput community saw resentment, but this dispute has once again brought the importance of Dalit vote bank in the state to the center. Samajwadi Party and the ruling BJP- both parties are now trying to capitalize on this opportunity.

According to political surveys, Dalit voters in Uttar Pradesh are about 21 percent. In such a situation, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, both BJP and SP parties have intensified the exercise to woo Dalits as part of their strategy.

BJP started the campaign

Before his scheduled visit to Agra in the coming days, both CM Yogi Adityanath and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav have settled political pieces with the aim of strengthening the support of Dalits. In fact, the support of Dalits and other backward classes (OBCs) has been important in BJP’s election success in Uttar Pradesh since 2014.

Yogi Adityanath recently urged BJP workers to actively join Dalits, saying, “Until we present the right facts to people, people who are misleading them to fulfill their political interests, they will continue to exploit Dalits and the underprivileged.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the fifteen-day “Ambedkar Samman Abhiyan” from Sunday, in which BJP workers have been given the responsibility of promoting the Dalit-interest schemes of the government.

The BJP organization knows that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP lagged behind due to deteriorating negative in Dalits and backward. Especially the question of ending reservation, the question of recruitment of 69000 teachers and the question of changing the constitution. These issues had spoiled the BJP’s negative. After this, the ears of the state organization have stood up and now it is busy to demolish every such narrator.

Akhilesh Yadav connects Kanshi Ram

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav unveiled a statue of Ambedkar in Etawah and during this time addressing the gathering, underlined the party’s relations with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder Kanshi Ram.

Suman called the attack on his residence “backward, Dalit, minority (PDA)” alliance. A strategic vote block of backward classes, Dalits and minorities which is important for the Samajwadi Party’s electoral strategy.

Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman, in his statement, called Rana Sanga a “traitor”, to which there was a sharp response from the Kshatriya community. Outrage spread between the Rajput community and the Karni Sena. On 26 March, Karni Sena workers attacked and vandalized their house in Agra. Suman described this attack as “attack on backward, Dalit, minority (PDA) alliance”. Akhilesh Yadav blamed the BJP for the attack, while the BJP accused the SP of inciting Dalits.

Dadu Prasad joined SP

At the same time, Akhilesh Yadav is also eyeing the Dalit vote bank. Speaking at a recently organized program on the Constitution, Akhilesh Yadav insisted, “We (him) will not allow Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s constitution to change.” He praised Ambedkar as a unique scholar, economist and social reformer and said that discrimination experiences were important in the creation of the constitution.

Meanwhile, in the presence of Akhilesh Yadav, the founding member of the BSP Dadu Prasad joined the SP, which made it clear that the SP is making every effort to connect the Dalits with him.

This entire development indicates that after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, now the Dalit vote is going to play a decisive role once again in the preparation for the 2025 assembly elections.
