The fire in the NICU ward of Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College, Jhansi had shaken the entire state. Ten children had tragically died in this accident that took place on 15 November. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak took immediate action and formed a four-member committee to investigate the incident.

On the basis of the investigation report, Principal of the Medical College, Dr Narendra Singh Sengar, has been removed from his post and attached to the Directorate General of Medical Education Department. Along with this, the charge sheet has been handed over to Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Sachin Mahur. Nursing sister in-charge of NICU ward Sandhya Rai, Principal Superintendent of the college Dr. Sunita Rathore and Junior Engineer of Electricity Department Sanjeet Kumar have been immediately suspended.

Deputy CM said that in this case, charge sheet has also been given to the Head of Pediatrics Department of the college, Dr. Om Shankar Chaurasia, Associate Professor of the Surgery Department, Dr. Kuldeep Chandel and the Officer in-charge of Electricity. The investigation into his role has been handed over to Divisional Commissioner Jhansi.

Let us tell you that on November 15, ten newborn babies died in a fire in the NICU ward of Jhansi Medical College. Immediately after the incident, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak reached the spot, took stock of the situation and consoled the victims’ families. The government has assured all possible help to the affected families. The Deputy CM had assured strict action against the culprits, which has now been implemented.
