The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday increased the daily maintenance allowance for each cow from Rs 30 to Rs 50 for each cow under the Chief Minister’s Participation Scheme to help in the welfare of the cow dynasty and improve the livelihood of people adopting destitute cattle. According to a statement, a total of 1,62,625 destitute cows have been handed over to 1,05,139 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Participation Scheme, in which each family can adopt a maximum of four cows. It also said that the state government is considering inclusion of cow and cattle rearing in the school curriculum to explain the importance of cows and milk in the younger generation.
According to PTI, the meeting designed a comprehensive approach to cow protection, including measures to increase milk production and promote commercial use of cow dung and urine.
The government has prepared a strategy for the economic self -sufficiency of the cowsheds, including the establishment of vermicompost units in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, the statement said, these units will also produce earthworms to make fertilizers, as well as licensing and marketing of organic manure. There is a plan to streamline. More than 12 lakh destitute cows are being taken care of in 7,713 cowsheds in the state.
The statement said that the construction of 543 large centers has also been approved for cow protection, the cost of which has been increased from Rs 120 lakh to Rs 160.12 lakh. Radium belts are being installed on cattle to improve security and CCTV cameras will be installed in shelter sites using the cow protection fund.
