Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi has handed over certificates of Indian citizenship to 55 Pakistani citizens in Ahmedabad under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). On this special occasion, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi, while giving Indian citizenship certificates to all Pakistani citizens, said, ‘Smile, now you are a citizen of this great country India’.
In fact, from 2017 till March 2024, 1167 Pakistani citizens have been given certificates of Indian citizenship. Recently, with the handing over of Indian Citizenship Certificate under CAA to 55 more Pakistani citizens, this figure has reached 1222. Hisha Kumari Nandlal, resident of Ghodasar in Ahmedabad, made headlines at the Indian Citizenship Certificate letter program being handed over under CAA in Ahmedabad.
Born in Pakistan, came to India to study medicine
Hisha Kumari was born in Pakistan in the year 1998. She came to India with her family in 2013. After completing her schooling in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Hisha has become a doctor in 2022 after studying from a medical college in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Hisha Kumari, who was born in Pakistan and became a doctor after studying in India, told Aaj Tak, ‘Thanks to the country’s PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for returning my identity to me. After getting the Indian Citizenship Certificate today, I can now apply anywhere.
Studied till 8th class in Pakistan
Hisha Kumari said, ‘I was born in Pakistan in 1998, came to India with my family in 2013. After which I came to India and completed my studies from 8th onwards in Ahmedabad. After this, he studied medicine from Rajasthan in the year 2017. Everyone in my family except me had a certificate of Indian citizenship. Today I have also received the Indian Citizenship Certificate, I am proud as well as happy about this.
More than 50 Pakistanis got Indian citizenship in last 6 months
Payal Kukrani, BJP MLA from Naroda, Ahmedabad, said, ‘When the country was divided, it was decided that minorities would be given their rights. At that time Hindus were 15 percent in Pakistan, whose number is decreasing. The previous governments never thought anything about our Hindus. People used to keep pushing till Delhi for citizenship but Modi government thought about all these people and got them their rights. In the last six months, more than 50 Pakistani citizens have been given certificates of Indian citizenship under CAA.
Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi expressed concern over minorities abroad.
On the occasion of giving certificates of Indian citizenship to 55 Pakistani citizens, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi said, ‘When I see you, I say, smile, now you are citizens of this great country India.’ He said, ‘Under the guidance of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Hindus, Christians, Jains, Parsis, Sikhs and Buddhists are called minorities in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. We have seen incidents of atrocities on minorities in these countries. Due to the incidents that happened with my Hindu family stranded in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, it became difficult for my sisters to leave the house, families were worried about the future of their sons and daughters. But as soon as Narendra Modi became the PM, the first thing he did was by changing the rules, arrangements were made to reduce the number of trips from here to Delhi. In many districts including Ahmedabad, Modi government has increased the facilities for you by giving special power to the Collector.
Harsh Sanghvi said, ‘Today, as a Hindu, an Indian and a Modi soldier, I am proud that such a system was made that you could come to your work place in India and get your rights. Harsh Sanghvi said that I am proud that an association is running in the name of migrant doctors in Ahmedabad. And here you all are united and serving the society. He said, ‘Today there is a citizen among us who was born in Pakistan and came to India and became a doctor. It is a matter of pride for us and the country.
