James Tooley, Vice Chancellor of Britain’s University of Buckingham, has been suspended after allegations of an affair with a girl from Hyderabad. It is being said that he had helped the girl pay her university fees. The Indian woman claimed in her diary that she had a physical relationship with 65-year-old Professor Tooley. These allegations came to light when the professor’s wife handed over copies of the diary written by the girl to the university. Tooley’s suspension was announced in October, but it has come to light only now.

According to the information, Tooley was holding the post of Vice Chancellor since the year 2020. He issued a statement through his lawyer, in which he termed these allegations as baseless. The allegations were revealed by Tooley’s 42-year-old wife, Cynthia.
Cynthia is of Nigerian origin and married Tooli in February 2022. According to The Times report, in the diary the Indian woman claimed that she was 18 when she first met Tooley and that their physical relationship began when she was 21.

According to reports, the affair began when Tooley was running a project of low-cost private schools for poor communities in Hyderabad. He is said to have known the woman’s father and contributed to her university fees.

The Indian woman wrote in her diary, ‘Whoever reads my diary can see that I loved him and wanted to be with him. He always treated me with respect. People will say that he used me because he had power and money. but it’s not like that. He is a good man who cares a lot for others.
