Return of Chetan Sakaria
For IPL 2025, KKR has included Chetan Sakaria in the team in exchange for Umran Malik. Umran Malik is out of the entire season due to injury. Chetan Sakaria worked at his maternal uncle’s stationery shop to spend the cost of cricket during school days. His father could not pay cricket goods and coaching fees. In 2021, his younger brother committed suicide. Chetan and his family faced this sorrow.
Chetan Sakaria was first purchased in the 2021 IPL mini-auction for Rs 1.2 crore. Life was not easy for Sakaria coming from a village, 10 km from Bhavnagar in Gujarat. His maternal uncle spent his studies, cricket goods and training at the Cricket Academy. Sakaria’s father used to run a tempo and raised the family with his low income.
Amazing in domestic
After bowling at the Nets of Saurashtra’s senior team, he made her debut in the Ranji Trophy against Gujarat in November 2018. He took 5 wickets in the first innings and Saurashtra scored points in the first innings. He took 29 wickets in 8 matches in his first Ranji season. But his bowling in T20 format caught everyone’s attention. During the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he impressed the scouts of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sakaria also made his international debut for India in 2021 itself. He has taken 2 wickets in a ODI match, while he has 1 wicket in 2 T20I matches.
Chetan Sakaria has played 19 matches in three IPL season (2021-23) so far. He has taken 20 wickets from an economy of 8.43. Sakaria made his IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals. In 2022, he played for Delhi Capitals. In T20 cricket, Sakaria has taken 65 wickets in 46 matches from an economy of 7.69.
