The bullet train project in Kheda district of Gujarat has brought unexpected changes in the lives of farmers. Farmers have received good compensation in lieu of land acquired by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) of the Government of India for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai High Speed Rail Corridor. Due to this, the fate of farmers of Bhumel village of Kheda district has changed. Those who used to live in raw houses earlier, are now living a better life with pucca houses and luxury cars.
The exact data of how much land was acquired for the bullet train project from Mehmadism to Nadiad in Kheda district is not available, but 951.14 hectares of land has been taken for this project in the whole of Gujarat. It also includes Bhumel village, where the land of 50 to 60 farmers was acquired.
Local farmer Penal Patel said, “Land was taken for the bullet train in our village, in which some farmers got 20 lakh rupees and some got 2 to 2.5 crore rupees. Overall, the village got an estimated compensation of 70 crores. The price of a guttha land was from 2.40 lakh to 3 lakh rupees. This money changed our lives.”
Sharing his story, farmer Kanubhai Parmar said, “Our about 25 gutha land was acquired, including Chaklasi and Bhumel area. We got good compensation according to the individual rate. Six and a half lakhs for the land of the cyclous, 24 lakhs for the land of Bhoomel and 15-15 lakh rupees for three houses. A total of five houses got a good price for the land. It is a pleasure of the matter. “
With this compensation, many families of the village not only built pucca houses, but also bought cars. First these farmers living in earthen houses are now living life with modern facilities. The bullet train project has not only made progress in the field of transport, but has given a new direction to their lives by making Kheda farmers financially strong.
