The Venu Srinivasan family of the TVS Group today saw Laxmi Venu taking over as the vice -president of the world’s largest tractor manufacturers. According to sources, it is part of the restructuring between family members, which ensures the clear succession plan.
In March 2024, Venu Srinivasan announced that his family members – wife Mallika Srinivasan, son Sudarshan Venu and daughter Lakshmi have signed an agreement (MoU) to avoid competition.
Apart from this MoU, it is now clear that there is a clear division of businesses and management of businesses between Srinivasan and Mallika’s children. Sudarshan will continue to lead TVS Holdings and its subsidiaries – TVS Motor, TVS Credit Services, Home Credit India and TVS Emrald. Mallika will replace Srinivasan in Lakshmi Tafe and lead Sundaram Clayton Limited.
Under the agreement, Sudarshan agreed that he and his control would not use some trademarks (including TVS) regarding some businesses, including aluminum and magnesium dye casting/mechanized casting design, manufacturing and supply for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and after-market.
Sources said that apart from this, he also agreed not to compete in a certain period, including tractor and self-operated agricultural equipment such as agricultural machinery business. Meanwhile, Mallika and Lakshmi have agreed that they and her control people will not use some trademarks (including TVS) regarding some businesses, including two -wheelers and three -wheelers, financial services and real estate.
He has also agreed to not engage in certain trading in a certain period, including two -wheelers and three -wheelers, parts and/or accessories of any such vehicle. Sudarshan, Managing Director of TVS Holdings Limited, is already leading the TVS Motor Company as Managing Director.
