X and Netflix accused of serving porn content – X and Netflix Accused of Serving Pornographic Content
The court has summoned the Delhi Police for refusing to register an FIR against the social media site X and Netflix on charges of broadcasting pornographic and objectionable materials.
A petition filed by former Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar through advocate Vineet Jindal alleged that X and Netflix are serving pornographic material without stopping. It is having adverse effects on the youth.
The complaint stated that the accused forum is violating several laws such as the Code of India Justice (BNS), the Poxo Act, the Information Technology (IT) Act and the abusive depiction of women.
During the hearing, the court has directed both Netflix and X to present their case under Section 79 of the IT Act. The next hearing of the case will be held on 22 May.
