Didn’t even talk… Shreyas Iyer breaks silence for first time on not being retained by KKR – Shreyas Iyer breaks silence for the first time on not being retained by KKR
IPL 2025 may start from the last week of March, but before that Iyer has made a surprising revelation about his old team KKR. In a conversation with Indian Express, Iyer accused the KKR team of not having serious talks with the franchise regarding retention, due to which he decided to part ways with the team.
Shreyas Iyer accused KKR
Regarding not being retained, Shreyas Iyer said, ‘Obviously we talked directly after winning the IPL, but even after a few months when no concrete efforts were made, I was surprised as to what was happening. Due to lack of communication from the franchisee’s side, we came to such a situation that we decided to part ways with mutual consent.
“I am definitely disappointed,” he said. Because when there is no concrete result of conversation with you then you feel shocked. Especially when it’s just before the retention deadline. In such a situation, it is obvious that there was something lacking on the part of the franchise. That’s why I had to part ways. Whatever is written has to happen.
Aakash Chopra rejected Iyer’s allegations
However, former Indian team cricketer Aakash Chopra does not accept these claims of Shreyas Iyer as true. Aakash Chopra admits that Shreyas Iyer was the captain, but as per Iyer’s statement, KKR did not talk to him. Now, I can confirm that the conversation took place. The truth is that there was a long discussion, but no consensus was reached, which is a different matter.
He said, ‘Shreyas also had some apprehensions in his mind, but what happened is quite interesting. Sometimes you start thinking, ‘Karma is real man’, I can confirm that conversation happened. I also have my sources.
