DMK MPs resolved to work towards ensuring Tamil Nadu’s rights on the delimitation issue of Lok Sabha seats. He said that this exercise based on population will not only affect the southern states, but other states including Odisha and West Bengal will also be affected.
Parliament session is starting on Monday. On its eve, a meeting of DMK MPs was held under the chairmanship of party president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. In the meeting, it was decided to raise the issue of delimitation in Parliament by passing the resolution. Other issues including imposing DMK MP Hindi will also be raised.

The DMK is emphasizing that the delimitation of population -based Lok Sabha seats will reduce the current number of seats in Tamil Nadu and the party wants this process to be done on the basis of the 1971 census. DMK MPs said that the Center has not given any clear response to this issue and is creating confusion. He said that Stalin has realized that Tamil Nadu and other southern states are being punished for implementing population control measures effectively.

DMK MPs said, “The meeting resolved to support Chief Minister Stalin in all efforts on this issue and to raise it in Parliament and ensure that Tamil Nadu did not lose a single Lok Sabha seat.” In addition, DMK MPs resolved to try to raise support from political parties of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal and Punjab- all these state is going to lose Lok Sabha seats after delimitation and resolved to make them a part of the struggle against the Center on the issue. For this purpose, DMK MPs will coordinate with their allies involved in the India Block.
