Strong earthquake tremors were felt simultaneously in three countries of the world on Tuesday morning. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Tibet controlled by China, whose intensity was measured at 7.1 on the Richter scale. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), an earthquake of 7.1 magnitude occurred at 9:05 am local time in the Tibet region under China’s control near the border of Sikkim, Nepal and India. The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 91 km (56 mi) from Lobuche, Nepal. Earthquake tremors were also felt in some parts of Bhutan and Bangladesh.
The impact of the earthquake was felt widely in the entire region. Tremors were felt intermittently several times in Tibet. Apart from the North-Eastern states of India, tremors were also felt in West Bengal and Bihar. On social media, people shared videos from inside their homes, in which fans were shaking due to the earthquake. There is currently no information available about the loss of life and property due to the earthquake. USGS (United States Geological Survey) said that the initial intensity of the earthquake was 7.1 and it occurred about 10 kilometers below the earth’s surface, due to which it did not prove to be very destructive.
