EPFO New Rule: EPFO changed the rules, from name to DOB… now these things will be updated without documents – EPFO New Rule Name to Date of Birth PF Account Profile will be Updated Without Documents tutd
Employees Provident Fund Organization has changed the rules to provide relief to its members and to simplify the updation process. Now employees can easily update EPF profile. No kind of document will be required for this. This decision of EPFO will benefit 3.9 lakh members with pending requests. These members now have the facility to cancel pending requests and resubmit them under the new streamlined process.
What information can be updated?
There have been many updates in the EPFO system. The latest update is that members can easily edit their personal information including Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Parents Name, Marriage Status, Spouse Name, Entry and Exit without submitting any documents. Date and other information is included.
Who will get this facility?
EPFO has informed that this facility is for those members whose Universal Account Number (UAN) is verified with Aadhaar. The objective of this process is to reduce complaints and to dispose of pending requests expeditiously. Earlier, the change required verification from the employer, which took about 28 days.
Aadhaar and PAN must also be linked
Now about 45 percent of the requests can be self-approved by the member. The other 50 per cent can be settled only with the approval of the employer without the involvement of EPFO. However, for this, members will have to ensure that their Aadhaar and PAN are linked to the EPF account, as it is mandatory for any update or withdrawal. Without this, there may be a delay in completing the request.
What will be the whole process?
According to PIB, currently about 27 per cent of the complaints filed by members are related to profile and KYC issues. It is believed that the new process will significantly reduce these complaints. For profile changes, the member will not have to wait for the submission of documents and the employer’s approval. For this, UAN should be linked to Aadhaar. Members will have to request for updates by logging into the EPFO portal or UMANG app.
