Talented Actor Ashutosh Rana has been making waves across the country with his play Humare ramWhere he plays Raavan. The play has been loved not just for its storytelling but also for the grandeur and music. The songs have been sung by prominent singers like kailash kher, shankar mahadevan and sonu nigam, etc. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood hungamaAshutosh Rana spoke about the play, his films and a lot more.

How many shows of Humare ram Have been stained until now? And how have been the response? I could see the makers have commenced advance booking of shows that would be happening much later, in July. Surprisingly, these shows are alredy fast filling…
The feedback has been treamed. Thanks to the positive word of mouth, we have been able to stage 160 shows within a year. We have not just performed in Mumbai or Delhi but also in Smaller Towns and Cities Like Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Indore, Bhopal, Pune, Baroda, Ujjain, Raipur, KurukShetra, KurukShetra, KurukaTra, Etc. So far, we have performed in almost 11-12 states. Until now, all the shows have been sold out. It’s a grand play and also very expensive logistically. Thought it is set in kalyug, the story is from treta yug. This factor has appeared to the people. In Mumbai, We’ll be performing two shows daily from February 16 to 23 that too in Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center, which is one of the world’s finest state-off-on audatoriums.
It’s a lengthy play and on top of it, you and your team even a long interaction with the audience after the play…
Usually, Ramlila Goes on for 11 days. That’s how one is able to do full justice to the epic. And you’ll take 24 hours to Finish reading Ramcharitmanas, that Too without a Break. Hence, to narrate ram Katha with 3 hours was a challenge in itself that too in today’s reels era where the attainment span is of 30 seconds. We don’t have to just tell the story but do it in an entertaining and enlightening manner. What helped us was that we have narrated not-SO-Known Chapters of Ramayan. We know that the audience loved it as they waited until the Curtain Call. Theatre has its audience but with Humare ramWe have had the privilege of creating a new theater audience (smiles).

(Laughs) That’s very true. This is the first such institution. T-Series Got Associated after our play was out. Otherwise, Music Companies Don’T Touch Songs Once they are out anywahere. But i guess the soundtrack is so heartwarming and impactful and the audience has shown so much love that such associations have happened like like Never Before. You can hear the songs not just on youtube but also on spotify. On Instagram, some people have posted 30-second clippings of the songs and also of the play. Will Humare ram‘S shows take place Abroad?
The plan is there but India is so vast and it’s our dream to stage Humare ram in every state of India. We want to perform from kashmir to kanyakumari and from guwahati to chowpatty! And then we can think of a foreign tour.
We have Heard of Pan-India Films but humare ram seems to be a pan-India play…
Yes. And even Lord Ram Toured Pan-India and Only then He Reached Lanka (Laughs)!
Speaking of Ramayan, A Film, Adipurush (2023), was made on the epic. What do you think went will with the film?
I haven’t seen it and hence it but be right on my part to comment.
You were seen in this week’s release ChhaavaEarlier, You also played a role in the web series ChhatrasalWhich also revolves Around Aurangzeb. Meanwhile, you are playing ravan in Humare ramDo you get attracted to period biopics?
I feel that we have an emotional attachment to Several Heroic Historical Characters. Hence, they were released during their lifetimes, they are relevant at present and will be released even in future. As a result, such films are being made and should be made. Film is an audio-visual medium. People have imagined them in a certain way and if the film does justice to their imagination, then there films get accepted big time and even work at the box office.
ChhaavaI bellyve, falls into that category. Our Director Laxman Utekar Researched Extensively. Our co-actors have also also given their best shot. I believe that in ChhaavaYou’ll see characters living the part; You won’t see actors perform a role. Aapko film mein actors nahin dikhenge, aapko Characters Dikhayi DengeAnd when that happy, the film is bound to be successful.

You were also a part of SimmbaCan we expect you to return to Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe?
If you have a look at my filmography, you will see that I have played characters of different temperature and shades in my career, right from Dushman (1998) to Pathaan (2023). You don’t have to look so far. This month, I had Loveyapa on February 7 followed by Chhaava on February 14. Then, on February 21, You’ll see me in Kaushaljis vs Kaushal on jio hotstar, which is a mature love story. Hence, I am Fortunate to have been offered roles of different kinds. I have tried my best to play these parts with utmost sinceness and fortunately, the audience has given them a lot of love.
