In a recent appearance at the Bollywood Hungama Round Table 2024actress Shalini Pandey shared her candid thoughts about her Hindi debut film Jayeshbhai Jordaarwhich was released in 2022. Despite the film’s box-office failure, Shalini, who hails from Jabalpur, expressed that the experience was an enriching one and one she would not trade for anything.

When asked if she got what she had hoped for from the film, Shalini responded thoughtfully, saying, “I went in for fun. I come from Jabalpur, thinking, YRF (Yash Raj Films) is a big deal. So when you get Yash Raj, when you get Ranveer Singh, when you get everything on paper, of course, you’re like, the experience would be so much bigger and nourishing and enriching. And that happened. So I got what I wanted.”
Shalini highlighted the importance of the journey itself, rather than just the end result, acknowledging that things don’t always go as planned, even when they seem perfect on paper. “Now I understand that on paper everything looks right. I don’t expect a lot after I realized that very early in my career, I realized that you don’t have control over things, and I do not have control over anything.”
The actress, who was excited to work with Jayeshbhai Jordaar’s star Ranveer Singh and under the prestigious YRF banner, remained philosophical about the outcome. She shared, “Okay, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect me, but after two days, I’m like, Yeah, we’re pretty chill about it. I have to move on.” Despite the film not receiving the success everyone had hoped for, Shalini remains positive and focused on what she gained from the experience.
Her reflection on the film’s performance showed a sense of maturity and resilience, “So I got what I wanted from it. How it’s perceived, of course, I wanted it to do what we thought it would, but it didn’t, and it’s fine for me. So what I wanted, I got.”
Besides Shalini, the Bollywood Hungama Round Table featured other talented actresses like Triptii Dimri, Ananya Panday, Aditi Rao Hydari, Bhumi Pednekar, and Nitanshi Goel, who also shared their insights on their remarkable work in films this year, including Call Me Bae, CTRL, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Bhakshakand Heeramandi.
