Mere Husband Ki Biwi Releases on February 21. It’s also the day when you and producer jackky bhagnani celebrate your wedding anniversary. Hence, was the release date International or is it coincidental?
(Smles) it’s a coincidence. Internally, hum aisa kaam nahin karengeWe’D bot like to take a holiday on our anniversary, that too the first one. But the best release date that jackky even think of was February 21. Its only laater we realize that ’21st’ 21st ko Toh Hamari anniversary hai ‘ (Laughs)! I don’t know if we’ll be togeether on our first anniversary as I am shooting in patiala for De de pyaar de 2He is going to be busy in Mumbai. I hope he can make a one-day trip to meet me.
It’s a great release date. Not many films have the luck of Arriving solo…
Also, there has been an overdose of action and high-violence films. My parents Enjoy Films like this. That Generation and Family Audience Want to Laughing while Munching on the Popcorn. Mere Husband Ki Biwi is one such film. I really hope and pray that people like it.

Indeed. After a long day at work, I want to have a gala time watching films with my friends. But uss Type Ki filmein Hi nahin hai,
You also have a great director, mudassar aziz, who’s known to make clean family entertainers…
Absolutely. His writing is very solid and so is the graph of Each character.
The first thing that striks when we see the trailer of the film is your short hair look. How did this look get locked?
The credit for it goes to mudassar. Antara’s Character Shuttles Between Delhi and London. He wanted a different look for her – classy, chic and confident. We tried a couple of looks in the look test. I Remember when we are tried this look, we all realized that it’s apt for antara. It went with her high-socialy, polished character.
You have done Comic Roles in the Past With Films Like De de pyaar de (2019) and Chhatriwali (2023). But actresses often say that very few such things are written for them…
Yes, and that’s very true.
And why is that?
That is something that only the makers can answer. Also, there are a few roles where you are active in the comedy. Like you are not just standing and reaction. You are heading the scenes. De de pyaar de was one such film for me. Even antara come under that category and credit goes to mudassar’s written. He writes his female characters where it’s Happy bhag jayegi (2016), Pati Patni aur woh (2019), Khel khel mein (2024) or Mere Husband Ki BiwiHis writing for the female characters is so strong that you enjoy portraying it. I really hope more films are made like this. It was prevalent in the 90s and 2000s. We Saw Kajol in Kabhi khushi kabhie gham (2001), Kareena Kapoor in Jab we met (2007), etc., in well-defined funny roles. Even sridevi ma’am and hema malini ji have played such ach parts. Hence, women used to have strong roles in our films. In the last 10 years, we want into the action commercial films zone where actresses do’t get a chance to actively take the story ahead. Nevertheles, the change has started now and i really hope that we go back to what quintessential Bollywood was known for.
Mere Husband Ki Biwi‘S trailer takes a dig at you and your co-stars, Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar. The Voiceover during your Scene is, ‘Yeh sexy hone ke alawa kuch nahin hai ‘But the fact is that you have an interesting body of work and have worked with some of the biggest stars of bollywood and also down south. Do you think your achievements should be talked about more, especially how it happys for certain actresses?
I don’t think what people talk about. I can’trol it. Of course, you want to be known for your work. Anyone who has followed my journey will realize that I have done varied roles like Doctor G (2022), Chhatriwali (2023), Runway 34 (2022), etc. One might say that De de pyaar de and Mere Husband Ki Biwi Are Commercial but, in Both Films, I Have Had Great Roles.
I guess due to the way you look, people have preceded notions about it. And it’s not about looking hot or sexy. Yeh ek pattern Hota Hai That if you play a westernized character in a couple of films, the makers would be like, ‘Let’s not cast her in the role of a villagers’. I faceed that during Doctor G Where many Had apprehensions if i would be able to play a small-to-to doctor. I suggested director anubhuti kashyap for a look test. It worked and then i get 2-3 more films in the same zone. Hence, I am not a person who is bothered by people opinions on how I look. As an actor, I should be able to look any part. You put me in a dress or you put me in a saree – i should be able to pull off bot. Keep your blinders on and keep working – that’s my belief.
What can we expect from your other Comic Film of the Year, De de pyaar de 2,
(Smles) I cannot wait for this film to come out. Every night, I get such a satisfactory sleep trust working on this is so much fun. This time, there’s going to be double dhamaka and double mazaa,
