Government vehicle belonging to the tehsildar Nanpara hit biker allegedly dragged body for 30 kilometers lcltm

A heart-wrenching incident came to light in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night. Here the car of the Tehsildar of Nanpara crushed a bike rider. A bike rider was hit by the official vehicle of Nanpara Tehsildar and his body was allegedly dragged for 30 kilometres.

The victim has been identified as Narendra Kumar Haldar, 35, a resident of Payagpur, who was returning home when the accident occurred on Nanpara-Bahraich road on Thursday evening. According to the police, Haldar’s body got stuck in the vehicle and was dragged the entire distance till Nanpara tehsil.

It is believed that Naib Tehsildar Shailesh Kumar Awasthi, who was present in the vehicle at the time of the accident, has been recommended for suspension by District Magistrate Monica Rani. Driver Meraj Ahmed has been arrested. Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla said, ‘When the location of deceased Narendra Halder and Tehsildar’s driver Meraj Ahmed was tracked at the time of the accident, it was confirmed that the body was dragged for 30 kilometers to Nanpara.’

Terming the incident as ‘gross negligence’, the officer said, ‘It is very unlikely that a body remained stuck in the vehicle for 30 kilometers and no one came to know about it. It is possible that the vehicle may not have been stopped from the road. The official said a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. “Police are examining CCTV footage on the 30-km stretch to reconstruct the sequence of events,” the SP said.

Police said that in the complaint lodged regarding the case, the family members of the deceased have mentioned the Tehsildar’s car. District Magistrate Monica Rani said, ‘The case of car colliding with bike has come to notice. Naib Tehsildar of Nanpara had come to Bahraich in the Tehsildar’s car for some work and was returning to Nanpara. Information about the dead body has been received. His car got stuck till Nanpara Tehsil, according to Naib Tehsildar he was not aware about it, it has been recommended to suspend the Naib Tehsildar who was traveling in the car.
