‘Hand’ with ‘broom’ would have been something else? The seats in Delhi … where the AAP was not defeated by the BJP, Congress defeated! – Delhi Election Results congress caused huge loss by cutting votes of aam aadmi party, BJP benefited ntc

The results of the Delhi assembly elections have come and this time the election battle has completely changed the political picture of the national capital. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who was dreaming of forming the government for the third consecutive time, had to face a crushing defeat. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) captured power after 27 years, registering a historic victory. On the other hand, the Congress was once again reduced to zero, which made it clear that its revival in Delhi is still far -fetched. Arvind Kejriwal’s popularity declined, the distribution of votes due to lack of alliance with Congress and BJP’s aggressive electoral strategy wrote the script of AAP’s defeat.

After the results of Delhi, a big question has definitely arisen. That is, should the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have formed an alliance with the Congress to perform better? And if the hand was supported, then how much would the broom go in Delhi and would have changed the existing electoral equations by contesting elections with both? In fact, all the opposition parties formed the Grand Alliance India to defeat the BJP in the Lok Sabha. Congress and AAP were also involved in this. But by the assembly elections, both parties landed in different grounds. First Haryana, now both parties in Delhi contested separate elections, which directly benefited the BJP. As a result, the BJP government was formed in both places. In Haryana, the Aam Aadmi Party cut the votes of the Congress, now it has been seen in the opposite in Delhi.

Due to Congress, big faces of AAP like Kejriwal, Sisodia defeat

In this election, the BJP benefited tremendously, while the AAP suffered defeat by a few thousand votes in many seats. The performance of the Congress may have been weak, but its votes in many seats could prove to be a game Changer for AAP. Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal himself lost to BJP’s Pravesh Verma by a margin of just 4,089 votes. Similarly, big leaders of AAP like Manish Sisodia and Saurabh Bhardwaj lost the seat with a very small margin. And in these seats, more votes than this difference went to the Congress candidates. That is, it is clear that the absence of an alliance with the Congress has proved to be a big loss for the AAP.

AAP candidate lost by cutting Congress votes in 14 seats

AAP won 22 out of 70 seats, but many of them reduced their vote share. The Congress did not win any seat, but got votes up to 5-15% in many seats. The BJP won many such seats, where it benefited from the distribution of AAP and Congress votes. If the AAP and Congress had an alliance, the BJP could have been a tough challenge. The reason is, there are 14 such seats in Delhi, where the defeat of the Aam Aadmi Party candidates was only due to the Congress votes. That is, the Congress has harmed the Aam Aadmi Party more than the BJP on these seats.

AAP’s traditional vote bank also got a dent

In this election, AAP was the most damaged in Dalit and Muslim -dominated seats, because the traditional vote bank of Congress was also present in these areas. AAP suffered defeat on 4 of Delhi’s 12 Scheduled Castes (SC) reserved seats. The biggest reason for this was that both Congress and BJP made a dent in AAP’s vote bank. Along with this, AAP has also suffered a shock in Muslim -majority seats. Because, out of the 7 Muslim -dominated seats of Delhi, even though AAP has won 6 seats, its vote share has fallen. Not only this, due to mutual split in parties, the Hindu candidate of BJP has won the election with a big margin in Muslim -majority seat Mustafabad.
