When Hanuman ji swallowed the sun
According to the legend, a wonderful child was born to the house of King Kesari and Mata Anjani, named Maruti. That child was not ordinary. It had the powers of the gods. Since childhood, he was very fickle, strong and intelligent. One day, when Maruti i.e. Hanuman ji was small, he saw the sun rising in the sky. The sun looked like a bright red- such as mangoes. He felt that that fruit should be eaten. They immediately flew towards the sky and flew so fast that all the deities were shocked. Hanuman ji tried to catch the sun and swallowed it. As soon as the sun swallowed, there was darkness on the whole earth. All the creatures were scared and it was night in the day itself.
When Indra Devta attacked Hanuman ji
Then all the gods reached Brahma Ji. Brahma ji told Indra Dev that Hanuman ji should be stopped. Indra attacked Maruti i.e. Hanuman ji with his thunderbolt. Due to which Hanuman ji fell directly to the earth. Brahma ji picked up Hanuman ji and said, ‘This child is special. No one can kill it. Then Brahma ji gave him a boon to always be victorious. The rest of the gods also gave him countless powers. Hanuman got immortality, fire protection, power of not drowning in water, the art of flying in the air and many more boons.
But when Hanuman ji started misusing his powers and started obstructing the penance of the sages, the sages cursed them that their powers would remain hidden till they do not remind them. This is the reason that later when Hanuman ji saw Shri Rama, he remembered all his powers and he became a powerful Bajrangbali.
