The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a gang of fake policemen. This gang used to extort money from people by setting honey traps in Kanjhawala area of outer Delhi. Three fake identity cards of Delhi Police and uniform of head constable rank have also been recovered from the accused.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Bhatia said that the accused have been identified as Neeraj Tyagi alias Dheeraj alias Dhiru (42), resident of Tilak Nagar, Ashish Mathur (31), resident of Karala and Deepak alias Sajan (30), resident of Kharkhoda. Has taken place in the form. He has been arrested near Budh Vihar Nala, Main Kanjhawala Road.
The ACP said that the accused were taken to the Crime Branch office for further questioning. From there he tried to escape from custody, but he was caught. Neeraj and Deepak were wanted in the honey trap case in Bindapur of Dwarka district. Different cases are registered against him in many police stations.
A police officer told about a case that in August 2024, an unknown girl contacted a 60-year-old doctor on phone. He started talking to the doctor. After a few days, the girl called the doctor to her home. Told them that his mother was ill. The doctor went to the girl’s address.
He reached her house located near Janakpuri metro station in West Delhi. There the doctor was served breakfast. Meanwhile, the girl opened the buttons of the doctor’s shirt. Then four people, including two in police uniform, entered the room. After this the girl ran away. As soon as he left, all four people caught hold of the doctor.
The accused extorted Rs 9 lakh from the doctor by threatening to implicate him in a criminal case and arrest him. After this incident, the victim informed the local police of Bindapur about the incident. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code and arrested four accused.
