Hundreds of microplastic in a chewing gum! If you chew daily, then be cautious – US research say

Many people like chewing gum a lot, but the information about chewing gum in a new research is disturbing. Research has revealed that hundreds of microplastic pieces from chewing gum go directly into people’s mouths. This study has come at a time when the researchers have discovered from the peaks of the mountains to the ocean foothills- and even in the air in which we breathe in the air in which we breathe.
Microplastic has also been found in the human body. Researchers say that our lungs, blood and brain also include microplastic. After this, concerns about the effects of plastic on health have increased. Sanjay Mohanty, the lead researcher of research conducted on chewing gum, while talking to news agency AFP said, “I do not want to scare people.”
Sanjay Mohanty of the University of California of Los Angeles said that there is no evidence that directly shows that microplastic is harmful to humans.
How many microplastics in a chewing gum?
Shog was a pilot study on chewing gum in which Lisa Lov, a PhD student of the University of California, chewed seven different brands. Then the researchers performed chemical analysis on his saliva i.e. saliva.
They found that one gram chewing gum (0.04 ounces) leads to an average of 100 microplastic pieces, although more than 600 are released from some. The average weight of a chewing gum is about 1.5 grams. Researchers said that those who chew about 180 chewing gum a year can swallow about 30,000 microplastics.
However, Mohanty also said that humans swallow more microplastics than chewing in other ways. For example, researchers estimated last year that a one liter plastic bottle contains an average of 240,000 microplastics.
Researchers said that the most common chewing gum sold in supermarkets is called synthetic gum. It contains petroleum -based polymers to make chewing gum chewed. Although the ingredients written on the packet are not given information about getting plastic, only the word “gum-based” is used.
Researchers tested five brands of synthetic chewing gum and five brands of natural chewing gum (chewing gum made using tree juice). Lowe, on which this research took place, said, ‘We found that both of them were abundant and it was shocked.’
