I saw the scoreboard and … Shashank Singh told Shreyas Iyer’s money to miss the century – Shashank Singh Told The Inseed Story of Shreyas Iyer Missing IPL Century Against GT in IPL 2025

Ahmedabad: In the 5th match of IPL 2025, Punjab Kings registered a thrilling victory over the Gujarat Titans. Due to aggressive batting in the final over against Shashank Singh’s Gujarat Titans, Shreyas Iyer missed his first century in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but the batsman later revealed that the Punjab Kings captain had instructed him to play big shots without care of his century. When the 20th over of Punjab’s innings started, Shreyas Iyer stood at the non -striker end after scoring 97 runs. Shashank hit five fours in this over of Mohammad Siraj, so that Iyer did not get a chance to bat. Shashank, who played an unbeaten 44 -run innings, said that Iyer did not ask him to rotate the strike. After the Punjab Kings won by 11 runs, Shashank said, ‘To be honest, I did not see the scoreboard. But after hitting the first ball, I saw the scoreboard and Shreyas was on 97 runs.

He said, ‘I did not say anything. He came to me and told me, Shashank don’t worry about my century. Certainly I was going to tell them if I should take a strike and give them a strike. ‘ Shashank said, “To say this, a big heart and courage is required because in T20, especially in IPL, no centuries are easily scored.” Shashank said that Iyer’s message was clear to keep attacking the bowler.

He said, ‘Shreyas told me go to Shashank and try to hit a four or six on every ball. This gave me even more confidence. We all know that in the end this team is a game but still it is difficult to be so selfless in those circumstances. But Shreyas is one of them. I have known them for the last 10-15 years. He has not changed at all.
