ICC Pitch Ratings for India Vs Australia Test Series: ICC (International Cricket Council) has released the pitch rating for the Border-Gavaskar series. Four of the five matches of the thrilling Test series between Australia and India have received ‘Very good’ ratings, the highest on the ICC pitch ranking scale.

The pitches at Perth Stadium, Adelaide Oval, Gabba and Melbourne Cricket Ground, which were the venues for the first four Tests, were rated ‘very good’. The pitch used for the final Test in Sydney received a ‘satisfactory’ rating, which is the second highest rating on the ICC scale.

In the year 2023, ICC reformed its pitch rating system and reduced it from six categories to four. Which is now very good, satisfactory, unsatisfactory and unfit.

Peter Roach, Cricket Australia’s head of cricket operations and scheduling, said – We are pleased with the quality of the pitches prepared for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and are grateful for the hard work of curators and venues across the country. We encourage pitches that bring out the unique characteristics of the venue and this has long been a hallmark of Australian cricket. We strongly believe that this is one of the reasons why Test cricket is so popular in Australia.

Peter further said- We do not try to prepare wickets to suit the home team or our position in the series. We want good competition between bat and ball and pitches that are likely to yield results.

There was a fierce competition between the two superpowers of cricket in the Border-Gavaskar series. India registered a resounding 295-run win in Perth, but Australia bounced back with wins in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.

Meanwhile, the rain-affected test at Gabba ended in a draw. Australia’s win has secured their place in the final of the World Test Championship 2023-25, where they will face South Africa at Lord’s. This series win also ended their long wait for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which they last won in 2014-15.
