The Donald Trump administration in the US has made it clear that it is mandatory to register foreign nationals who have been living in the US for more than 30 days. If you do not follow this rule, you may have to face fine and jail sentence.
The American Department of Homeland Security (DHS), titled ‘Message for illegal migrants’, emphasized the ‘self-departing voluntarily’ in a post. DHS said in a tweet on Saturday, ‘It is mandatory to register foreign citizens who have been living in America for more than 30 days. Not doing so is a crime, which can be sentenced to fine and jail.
If not registered, then the country will have to leave
Tagging US President Donald Trump and DHS Secretary Christie NoM in the tweet, “Trump and NoM have a clear message to illegal migrants- leave the country now and return voluntarily.” DHS has warned that if a foreign national neither registers nor leaves the country voluntarily, they will be immediately expelled from the country and they will not get time to settle their personal matters.
How much will be the penalty?
Those who do not leave the country voluntarily will be fined $ 998 per day (about Rs 85,924) if they have received the final order to return home. Apart from this, those who have informed the officials that they will leave the country but still do not go, they will be fined 1,000 to 5,000 dollars (about 86,096 to Rs 4.30 lakh).
Foreign citizens who do not voluntarily leave the country can be punished for imprisonment and can be disqualified for re -entry through the US legitimate immigration system in future.
Many benefits of voluntarily leaving the country
DHS voluntarily counted the benefits of leaving the country- as if a person could return from the flight of his choice, if he does not have a criminal record, he can take the money earned in America with him, and there may be a possibility of legally coming to America in future. Those who do not have money for travel can also be given subsidized flight.
