In the National Assembly, PTI leader Ayub told a channel on Saturday that the chapter of the conversation has now stopped. Ayub said that political talks are not only based on desires, but it requires strong commitment. Which the government has failed to showcase.

Condemning the approach of the coalition government towards the conversation, a senior PTI leader said that his party’s committee had started a discussion with good confidence. However, the other party neither showed goodwill nor intention, causing a deadlock. And now the path of conversation is over.

Ayub’s comment has come at a time when the conversation between PTI and the government came after being completely over which started in late December after months of political tension. Despite both sides holding three talks sessions, remarkable progress failed. PTI refused to participate in the fourth round of talks citing the government’s failure in creating a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 riots and the performance of November 2024. PTI also presented a written chart of its demands.

Since then, Imran Khan’s party has indicated the movement and also organized a rally in Swabi city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday to celebrate ‘Black Day’ in protest against the alleged rigging in last year’s general elections.

‘Doors will be open’

When the future of the conversation was uncertain, the National Assembly spokesperson clarified that Chairman Ayaz Sadiq had not formally invited PTI for talks, but only said that his doors as patrons of the House were opened to all members. are.

Reacting to Ayub’s statement, the spokesperson said that a formal invitation for talks will be given only when the government or the opposition requests. He reiterated that the role of the speaker is to facilitate the conversation and his chamber and housing were accessible to all MPs.

Repeating Ayub’s remarks on the future of the conversation separately, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui said that the government’s dialogue committee has become practically non-functional and ineffective. In a statement on X, Siddiqui said that even if the committee has been formally dissolved, it is no longer operational.

He said that the PTI unilaterally withdrew from the process and later rejected the proposal of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to reconsider his stance. The Senator accused PTI of returning to his “violent protest domestic ground” and said that if the party decides to join the conversation later, the government can revaluate its options.

Meanwhile, PTI president Barrister Gohar Ali Khan made it clear that the party is not demanding intervention from any country including the United States for the release of former Prime Minister in jail.

He said that we are not asking any country including America for the release of Khan. He has not signed any deal nor will make any deal. Gohar said in a statement, “As Imran Khan himself said, we are not talking for any agreement, but for Pakistan and democracy.”
