Donald Trump, while answering a question in the oval office on Monday, said, “I think many (countries) will reduce their tariffs, as they have been improping tariffs on the United States for years. ‘India imposes heavy tariffs on agricultural products’
A few hours before Trump’s comment, the White House said that India imposes 100 percent tariffs on US agricultural products. It states that due to high tariffs imposed by other countries, importing American products in those countries has become really impossible.
White House press secretary Carolina Lewitt said on Monday, “Unfortunately these countries have been robbing our country for a very long time and I think they have completely made their hatred towards American workers.”

Levit said, “If you look at improper trade practices- we have 50 percent tariff from the European Union on American dairy. You have a 700 percent tariff from Japan on American rice. You have 100 percent tariff from India on American agricultural products. You have about 300 percent tariffs from Canada on American butter and cheese.”
He said, “This has almost become impossible to import American products in these markets and it has excluded many Americans from business and employment in the last several decades.”
He said, “So now what is right for American people. The time has come for him to do. The time of recipe is going to be implemented from Wednesday.”
‘Reciperook Tariff will be applicable from April 2’
Trump has said that the reciperochl tariff on countries imposing tariffs on American goods will be implemented from April 2. Earlier this month, he said that the existing tariffs are temporary and small, but the major tariffs of reciprocal nature will be applicable from April 2. This tariff will be very transformative for our country.
At the same time, Levit did not make it clear what types of tariffs would be and which countries will be affected by it. He said, “I will allow the President to announce it on Wednesday, but this will ensure that mutuality will remain and American people will be behaved fairly.”
He said that Trump has a great team of business advisors, including American Commerce Secretary Howard Lootnik, Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, US Trade Representative Jemisson Greer, White House Assistant Peter Navarro, National Economic Council Director Kevin Haset and Policy and Homeland Security Advisor for Deputy Chief of Staff. Lewitt said that Vice President J.D. Vance was involved in these conversations.
He said, “All these people have presented this plan to the President how to fulfill it. The President takes a decision and we will not say anything about the nuances of the announcement before them.”
