Indian Diplomats in Canada Under Surveillance Govt Tells Parliament Nijjar Trudeau ntc
Diplomatic tension between India and Canada remains the same. Meanwhile, there is news that officials of the Indian Embassy in Canada are being kept under surveillance and their personal conversations are also being intercepted.
The Central Government told Parliament that the Indian Consulate officials in Vancouver were informed by the Canadian Government that their audio and video surveillance was being done and their private conversations were also being intercepted.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said in the Rajya Sabha that respecting each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty is necessary for sustainable bilateral relations. In fact, he was asked in the House whether Indian diplomats in Canada were being monitored through cyber surveillance or in other forms? On this he had told the House in writing that yes, recently the Government of Canada had told the officials of the Indian Consulate in Vancouver that their audio and video surveillance was being done.
Trudeau had accused India for the first time in Parliament last year
Last year, while speaking in Parliament, Justin Trudeau had blamed India for the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. After this, diplomatic tension increased between India and Canada. Since then, relations between India and Canada have been full of ups and downs. India had also accused Trudeau and his party of doing vote bank politics to woo Khalistanis.
In January this year, former Canadian National Security Advisor Jody Thomas had said that India was cooperating with Canada in the investigation of Nijjar’s murder.
Nijjar was murdered last year
In June last year, Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Surrey, Canada. Nijjar was a Khalistani terrorist. Was the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force. He was living in Canada for the last several years and was fueling Khalistani terrorism against India from there.
According to intelligence sources, Nijjar had become an even bigger headache for Indian investigative agencies in the last one year because he had started providing logistics and money abroad to the operatives of Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
When Trudeau visited India in 2018. At that time, the then Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh had handed him a list of Khalistani terrorists, in which Nijjar’s name was also included. The Union Home Ministry had declared Nijjar a terrorist in 2020. In 2010, an FIR was registered against him in the bomb blast outside a temple in Patiala. The police was looking for him in many cases including inciting violence and promoting terrorist activities.
India had declared Hardeep Singh Nijjar as a designated terrorist. NIA had also declared a reward of Rs 10 lakh on him.
