Indians trust Trump 2.0, 84 percent people say second term of Donald would be beneficial survey by European think tank reveals ntc

In a global survey released by a European think-tank, most Indians believe that Donald Trump’s return as US President will be a good thing for world peace and India-US relations. The European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) conducted this survey in collaboration with Oxford University’s ‘Europe in a Changing World’ project. It was found that people of many countries have a positive attitude towards Trump’s second term.

According to PTI, India has been placed in the category of ‘Trump Welcomers’ in the survey, which shows that Trump’s second term can be good not only for India but also for the entire world. The survey report says that in countries like India, China, Turkey and Brazil, most of the people believe that Trump becoming the President will be beneficial for America, their country and global peace.

According to the survey, 82% people in India believe that Trump’s victory is good for peace in the world. 84% say it is positive for India. And 85% people considered it beneficial for American citizens.

Odds in the ‘Never Trumpers’ category

On the other hand, in the category called ‘Never Trumpers’, those people have been kept who consider Trump’s victory negative for America and global peace. This category is mainly concentrated in Europe, especially Britain. Where half the citizens are against Trump. This group represents progressive opponents, who are present against Trump not only in Europe but also in countries like Brazil, South Korea and Türkiye.

Europe’s different perspective and possible challenge

Report co-authors Mark Leonard, Ivan Krastev and Timothy Garton Ash suggested that European leaders may have difficulty building a global resistance to Trump. The European Union (EU) will have to take some steps to strengthen its position.

Mark Leonard, co-founder and director of ECFR, said that even though many Europeans are worried about Trump’s return, much of the world sees it as positive for peace in the US, Ukraine and the Middle East.

The survey included 11 EU member states (Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary) along with India, China, Great Britain, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, the US, Brazil, Saudi Done in countries like Arabia, South Africa, Indonesia, South Korea and Switzerland. It was conducted through leading pollsters like YouGov, Datapraxis and Gallup International Association.
