New Delhi: Shreyas Iyer will be the captain of Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. The new captain of the team was announced on the sets of Bigg Boss on Sunday night. Iyer was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. Under his captaincy the franchise won the title. Punjab bought him in the auction for Rs 26.75 crore. Now the team will take the field in IPL 2025 under the captaincy of Iyer.

Iyer is the 17th captain of Punjab

Punjab Kings team has been playing IPL since 2008. Till 2020, the team name used to be Kings XI Punjab. The team has participated in 17 seasons so far. During this period, total players have captained the team. Shreyas Iyer is the 17th captain of the team. Yuvraj Singh was the first captain of Punjab Kings. George Bailey of Australia has commanded the team in maximum 35 matches. Whereas Mahela Jayawardene, Virender Sehwag and Jitesh Sharma have been captains in 1-1 matches.
