Exit poll: Did Rahul Gandhi lose in the assembly elections what he got in the Lok Sabha? , Opinion – exit poll results indicate major setback for Rahul Gandhi who scored good marks in lok sabha election 2024 opnm1

The results of Lok Sabha elections were a huge support for Rahul Gandhi. If Rahul Gandhi, who had left the post of Congress President after the 2019 defeat, decided to become the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, then the electoral success in 2024 was the reason behind it.
And Rahul Gandhi did not get this success because of his personal hard work or only because of Congress, but because of the banner of INDIA block. If seen, Akhilesh Yadav was the most successful, and when mentioned, Mamata Banerjee will also be considered. According to Rahul Gandhi, the difference was that Akhilesh Yadav was completely with him, and Mamata Banerjee was not completely against.
These were the Lok Sabha election results due to which as soon as Rahul Gandhi became the Leader of Opposition, he started roaring in the Lok Sabha that he will defeat BJP even by going to Gujarat. It is not that Rahul Gandhi did not roar earlier, but the difference in body language was clearly visible. After becoming the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi’s confidence level was worth seeing, but before that only hesitation or attitude was visible. This is what happens when people support us.
Exit polls suggest that BJP is going to take lead not only in Maharashtra and Jharkhand but also in Uttar Pradesh. This is bad news for other opposition parties too, but Rahul Gandhi must be feeling the worst.
Why bad news for Rahul Gandhi in exit poll?
It was the success of Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, due to which Rahul Gandhi started taking part in political activities more actively than before. Changes were also visible in Rahul Gandhi’s politics.
Like before, now he does not leave the election campaign midway and go on a foreign trip. It no longer seems that he is taking more interest in election preparations than before, and is avoiding even meeting his alliance partners.
But a mistake is being made somewhere. Haryana Assembly election was a very difficult election for BJP, but BJP did not allow Congress to stand. This is the same BJP which had failed in the Lok Sabha elections, and could not even get majority on its own. The NDA has been in power at the Center since 2014, but in both the elections, the BJP had majority on its own – this is the first time that the BJP is completely dependent on Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Nitish Kumar’s JDU to remain in power. .
Seeing the weakness of BJP, Rahul Gandhi started feeling that it would be difficult for the BJP government formed for the third consecutive time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to complete its tenure. Or, it is also possible that if Naidu or Nitish change their mind then India Bloc may also get a chance to form the government.
But, BJP seems to be moving forward rapidly. And, by adopting a soft stance towards Mamata Banerjee, it seems that she wants to keep the option open. If Naidu and Nitish change their mind, then someone will be needed to take care of them, preferably someone who can provide support from outside.
It is true that Rahul Gandhi does not let any opportunity go against BJP. Rahul Gandhi also raised the issue of the meeting of Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar and Amit Shah in Delhi with well-known businessman Gautam Adani – and also the meaning of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest slogan ‘If we are united, we are safe’. Explained it in his own way, and added the Adani factor to it too.
But was this enough to win the Maharashtra elections? Jharkhand elections were also important for Rahul Gandhi, but in comparison to that, the stake in Maharashtra was higher. Due to its better performance in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress was also a contender for the post of Chief Minister in Maharashtra – but Maharashtra too has suffered the same setback as Haryana – it seems so from the exit poll results.
Rahul Gandhi will have to understand the importance of ideology of regional parties
The results of the Lok Sabha elections show that the INDIA block’s strong presence in the field is like a mutual benefit scheme being effective for the Congress. Not only is Congress benefiting from the alliance, regional parties are also benefiting from Congress. This has been seen in the Lok Sabha elections in UP and also in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections – but one thing is also understood that Congress is not able to follow the coalition dharma properly.
It may be a matter of chance for Aam Aadmi Party to win an assembly seat in Jammu and Kashmir, but it has already done so in Gujarat and Goa. After Delhi, Congress has snatched power from Punjab.
In such a situation, Congress will have to understand the importance of not only Aam Aadmi Party but all the allied parties. The importance of regional parties, especially Congress, will have to be understood. If Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav had not supported him in UP, it would hardly have been possible for Congress to retain Rae Bareli and return to Amethi.
It is very important not only to finalize the electoral alliance but also to manage it. In Jammu and Kashmir, Rahul Gandhi made an alliance with Mallikarjun Kharge, but could not maintain it. A similar example has been seen in Haryana as well as UP by-elections – and Delhi Assembly elections are the latest example.
There was news about Aam Aadmi Party in Haryana elections that Congress was not even giving it the seats of its choice, hence the alliance could not be formed. Akhilesh Yadav did not even get seats in the alliance – and Congress had to pay the price for it in the UP by-elections.
Everywhere clapping is done with both the hands, but it is also important which party is extending the hand and who is pulling the hand back. From Rahul Gandhi’s statements regarding the ideology of regional parties, it seems that he also looks at such leaders with contempt. And, leaders of regional parties have also given a very strong reaction to such things of Rahul Gandhi.
If you look carefully, Rahul Gandhi had started saying in the Parliament that he will defeat BJP by reaching Gujarat, but he failed in Haryana itself, when there was a great opportunity to defeat BJP. Made an alliance with Omar Abdullah in Jammu and Kashmir, but did not join the Congress cabinet. Now it does not even seem that Congress is a part of the ruling coalition.
Rahul Gandhi should now think seriously about where the mistake happened and is happening again. Everyone rejected Uddhav Thackeray in Maharashtra and in Mahavikas Aghadi itself. In fact, every coalition partner had its eyes set on the post of Chief Minister. They fought together in the Lok Sabha elections, but the Chief Ministers fell apart over face – and the exit polls are also indicating the same.
Now it is not necessary that Uddhav Thackeray will remain in the opposition camp. What will Uddhav Thackeray do by staying with BJP, if he does not get what he had left for BJP? He may not get the post of Chief Minister, but he will be happier with BJP – and if that happens, it will not be good at all for Rahul Gandhi.
