You must have heard a lot of stories in office culture. Such things are common in India, but a case has come up from China, which everyone was surprised to hear.
A woman named Wang, who works in China’s Guangzhou City, was fired just 1 minute ago on charges of leaving the office. This woman did this only 6 times in the month, but now the court has termed this decision of the company as ‘illegal’.
Was working for three years
Wang was working in the company for three years and her performance was also described as the best, but the company suddenly dismissed her on the basis of the office surveillance footage that she used to go one minute before the scheduled time.

What does the court say?
The local court while giving the verdict said that leaving the office just 1 minute before can not be considered to leave early. The company neither gave any warning nor tried to improve their behavior. Therefore, this dismissal is illegitimate.
The court directed the company to give appropriate compensation to Wang, although the amount has not been disclosed.

There have been such cases before
In November 2024, a person was fired from the job due to taking a nap in the office, but the court got him a compensation of Rs 41 lakh. In March 2025, a law firm in Beijing was fined for overtime, which was highly appreciated on social media.
