The allegation of stone pelting on the Ram Navami procession in Kanpur has been rejected by the police and said that the situation is under control. However, after the information came to light, the police increased security in the new road area and deployed heavy police force in the area. At the same time, the police has appealed people to provide video footage or photo in this regard, so that the allegations can be confirmed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Shravan Kumar Singh said that a written complaint has been received by the organizers of the procession, alleging that while the procession was returning, stones were thrown from the roofs of buildings near the new road near Chandreshwar Hata. Police said that this rumor spread after an alleged video of some people running away from the area. No such incident has been found in the preliminary investigation conducted by the police … no casualties have been injured, no video or recording has come out … We are confirming every fact on the basis of video and CCTV. If the incident is found true then strict action will be taken.
