Tragic cases of student suicide have also come to light in Kota this year. The year 2025 has just begun and the incidents of suicide of two students in the last 10 days have increased everyone’s concern. In the incident of January 8, police have recovered a suicide note from the student’s room. Abhishek (18), a resident of Guna, Madhya Pradesh, wrote in his suicide note, “I could not study, grandparents, father, please forgive me.” He was preparing for JEE Advanced by staying in a PG located in Vigyan Nagar, Kota.

Abhishek Lodha (18) was a resident of Lalchak village of Bamori tehsil of Guna (MP), he lived in PG of Ambedkar Nagar (near Dakania Railway Station) in Vigyan Nagar area of ​​Kota, Abhishek’s father Mahendra Lodha (45). He is a farmer and was his only son. Mahendra told that he had talked to his son on January 7. On January 8, at 7.30 pm, he got a call from the PG that Abhishek had committed suicide. Abhishek’s brother said that he had come to Kota of his own free will to prepare for engineering. He himself has written in the suicide note that he was not able to study, hence he is taking this step.

Administration’s action on PG
The administration has taken strict action against the PG in which Abhishek lived for not following the guidelines. The PG has been seized for not having a hanging device in the room. On the orders of ADM City Anil Kumar Singhal, Vigyan Nagar police station seized house number C 15 located in Ambedkar Nagar of the area. The administration had also made it clear in the meeting of hostel operators and other parties related to it a day earlier that everyone will have to follow the guidelines. Strict action will be taken if this is not done. ADM Anil Kumar Singhal has given strict instructions to hostel and PG operators to ensure compliance with security and other rules.

Continuously increasing suicides
So far, two suicide cases have been reported in Kota in 2025. On January 7, Neeraj Jat, a resident of Mahendragarh, Haryana, who had come to prepare for JEE Advanced, committed suicide in the hostel. On January 8, the incident of suicide of Abhishek Lodha of Madhya Pradesh came to light. Whereas, in 2024, 19 students had committed suicide and in 2023, cases of 29 students committing suicide were reported.
