Mahakumbh stampede: Whose fault was it … could the accident be postponed? Know what happened that night at the confluence – Mahakumbh Stampede Whose Fault was I could the Accident Have Been Avoided Know What Haapped at Sangam That Night NTC
The scene seen on Wednesday in the fair area of Mahakumbh put everyone in shock. A person did not leave his hand until the body reached the hospital’s morgue for fear of losing the body of his family. He was afraid that if he would leave the hand of the dead body, he would not have any luck to his relative’s body. The administration was struggling to take the dead and injured to the hospital in the atmosphere of chaos and crowds of crores of people. After the incident in the video, more than 50 ambulances were seen near Sangam. Shoes, slippers, blankets, bags and clothes were scattered all around.
It is claimed that all these goods were of those devotees who stayed with their families to take a bath of Mauni Amavasya near Sangam. But during this time, the crowd of people who were going towards the confluence, created a stampede and in this stampede, this crowd fell on those who were sleeping there or waiting to take a nectar with their families. After this stampede, hundreds of people were also separated from their loved ones and the bodies of many people were brought to the hospital by ambulance.
30 killed, CM became emotional
When Aaj Tak’s team reached the central hospital of Mahakumbh, there were 11 dead bodies on the floor, whose pictures can also distract you. Till now we were watching grand pictures of Mahakumbh everyday in which crores of people were bathing every day. There was no untoward incident anywhere, but no one had imagined that after the divine pictures of Mahakumbh, we will have to see these sad pictures today, in which we will see the figures of death instead of bathing in Mahakumbh.
30 people have died in this stampede. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also became emotional today while making a statement on this incident. Today, not only India but this ‘stampede’ is being discussed all over the world. Everyone wants to know where this incident happened in Mahakumbh, how, why it happened and can there be a conspiracy behind it? First of all, it is known that this incident took place on which sector and which ghat of Mahakumbh?
What happened at the confluence that night?
This time the Mela area of Mahakumbh is spread on about 4 thousand hectares of land, which has a total of 25 sectors and 41 ghats. The incident took place in Sector 2 of the Mela area, where Mahakumbh is the most prominent and important ghat. This ghat is also called Sangam Ghat or Sangam Nose because on this ghat, the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati river meet. People believe that they will get the real virtue of holy bath in Mahakumbh only when they take a dip in the confluence. This is the reason that all the people who are going to Mahakumbh now want to take a bath at Sangam Ghat and the same happened in this incident. Devotees who were present on the ghats of the Ganges and Yamuna river started departing towards Sangam Ghat to bathe the Amrit on Mauni Amavasya, which increased the pressure of the crowd at Sangam Ghat.
When this incident happened at 2 o’clock in the late night, there were some pictures of Sangam Ghat just half an hour before that, in which people were seen in flood all around. It is estimated that at that time more than 25 lakh devotees gathered around Sangam in this one sector. The routes made by the police to reach the Sangam were so full that people were trying to break the barricade installed there and the police and Rapid Action Force personnel were repeatedly explaining to stop them. All these situations were only half an hour before stampede. According to the administration, the incident took place between 1:45 pm and 2 pm. Where this incident took place, the distance of Sangam Ghat from there was only 200 meters.
Did VVIP movement increase crowds?
Now come to the question whether the VVIP movement was the reason for this crowd? Many people are claiming on social media that the administration has reserved many routes for VVIP leaders, celebrities and officials, due to which these stampede were done but according to the information we have received, this claim is misleading and completely Is not right from In the 45 days of Mahakumbh, the biggest Amrit bath is held only in the confluence on Mauni Amavasya and this bath is done by the saints and Mahamandaleshwar of 13 Akharas. On this day, the common devotees can take a nectar bath on the ghats of the Ganges and Yamuna River, but due to the Sanatan tradition, only the saints take the nectar bath on the Nose of Sangam. This is the reason that a reserved route is made for the arrival of saints and saints at the confluence, which is also known as ‘Akhara Road’.
The tents of the saints and saints of the akhadas are engaged across the Ganges river. They have to cross the Ganges river from temporary bridges to bathe in the Sangam and come to this arena road and because all the akhadas ride on the chariots for bathing and reach the confluence, so this route is kept a little wide and big. . The same was done for the nectar bath of Mauni Amavasya and it was not a VVIP movement. The police had closed several temporary bridges built on the Ganges river, so that the common devotees do not take a bath and do not come towards the confluence. But this did not happen and millions of devotees reached the confluence by different routes, due to which the Naga sadhus had to stop their nectar bath.
Due to the crowd, the sage saints of a ‘Akhara’ had to return to their camps without bathing the nectar from the middle way and this saints and saints also got angry. In the midst of all this, the situation started deteriorating more when people stopped there and started waiting for morning after reaching the confluence. All these people were thinking that they will take a holy bath in Brahma-Muhurta at 4 am on Mauni Amavasya and later return from there to the city. But due to this, the pressure of the crowd on the Sangam started increasing a lot and millions of people in this crowd started resting there by placing their belongings near the Sangam. It is claimed that when there was a stampede on the path of Sangam, the same crowd fell on the people sleeping there and 30 people lost their lives.
Could the accident be postponed?
Did the administration not make any attempt to control this crowd? Could this stampede be stopped? If the devotees did not ignore the appeal of the administration, then yes, this incident could have been stopped. DIG Vaibhav Krishna had appealed on the loudspeaker shortly before the incident that people should not stay overnight at the ghats as other devotees coming may cause problems. He also said that instead of going to the confluence, people should take a holy bath on the same ghats, which are around them. But people did not pay attention to this appeal of the administration and this incident happened due to the arrival of a large number of people at the confluence.
It is true that people did not pay attention to the appeal of the administration, but there is also a fact that it would be absolutely wrong to blame people for this incident. If you look at the system of Mahakumbh, the administration had diverted many paths to control the crowd at the confluence. Due to this diversion, people had to walk 6 to 7 kilometers to reach the nose of Sangam, that is, the path of Sangam was 1 to 2 kilometers, it was 6 to 7 kilometers due to diversion.
Apart from this, these routes were narrower than the crowd and reaching the confluence by hitting these paths was nothing short of a fire test. If a person reaches the confluence by walking 6 to 7 kilometers in the fair area, then it is natural for him to stay and rest for some time. Many people did the same in this incident too, so it will not be right to say why people were staying there. The mistake here has been made by the administration, which failed to control the crowd.
Different claims between government and eyewitnesses
In Mahakumbh, 40 thousand policemen and jawans and 2700 CCTV cameras have been installed in Mahakumbh but despite this they could not stop the stampede. Apart from this, there are three types of roads in Mahakumbh. The first road is called a black road, which is for common devotees. The second road is called red road, which is for VVIP movement and the third road is called Triveni Marg, which connects the fair area to the confluence. But in this incident, this system completely collapsed and the administration could not stop this stampede.
Why are the government and eyewitnesses different on this incident? Police say that some barricades were broken in this stampede, due to which a group of crowds climbed on some devotees sleeping on the ground. But eyewitnesses say that there was only one route to come and go to Sangam Ghat, which caused people to shock and after that there was a stampede.
What is the importance of bathing in the confluence on Mauni Amavasya
Whether it is Aquarius, Ardh Kumbh, Purna Kumbh or Mahakumbh, the biggest Amrit bath is of Mauni Amavasya. This bath is considered essential for attaining salvation. It is believed that on this day, Amrit flows in the Triveni of Prayagraj, due to which most people resolve to bathe in the sangam nose instead of bathing in the river Ganga or Yamuna. The nose of the confluence means that the shape of the nose, where it is believed that the Saraswati river is also union under the ground along the Ganges and the Yamuna river.
Apart from this, Mauni Amavasya is dedicated to the ancestors, so people make a new beginning by bathing in the confluence for the peace of their ancestors and on this day, the saints come to take a silent fast to take a silent fast to attain salvation. This time the nectar bath of Mauni Amavasya was also important because this yoga has come after 144 years, due to which more and more people have gathered at the Sangam ghat and this incident happened during this period.
The government had increased the size of Sangam Noj
Many people are also saying that if the government of Uttar Pradesh expands the nose of the Sangam, then this incident would not have happened? But this claim is also completely wrong. This time the government has developed an additional two hectare area of the nose of the confluence of the Sangam with experts from the irrigation department and IIT Guwahati. Earlier, 50 thousand people could come to this ghat at a time, but this time two lakh people can come to the confluence at a time.
After this stampede, there was a new world record in Mahakumbh. Till 8 pm on Wednesday night, 7 crore 64 lakh people took a Amrit bath in Mahakumbh on the day of Mauni Amavasya. So far, 27 crore 58 lakh people have arrived in Mahakumbh. Think, the stampede also did not affect the people and in 20 hours 7 lakh crore 64 lakh people took a Amrit bath in Mahakumbh today.
Due to this ‘stampede’, the saints of 13 Akharas had postponed the nectar bath of Mauni Amavasya. This is also a very big thing. The Naga Sadhus had already given up all the rights of worldly life by doing their pindadan, but due to this stampede, today he had to leave the right to take the nectar bath and this nectar bath started at 2 pm today.
