A major accident took place at Antalya Airport in Turkey, where a Russian passenger plane caught fire after landing. It was fortunate that 89 passengers narrowly escaped the accident.
According to news agency Reuters, the Turkish Transport Ministry said that landing of all flights at the airport was postponed until authorities removed the Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane operated by Azimuth Airlines from the runway.
All 89 passengers and all 6 cabin crew members on board the aircraft were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
Airport Hub has shared the video of this incident on X, in which it can be clearly seen that smoke was coming out from the engine of the plane. Also, employees of emergency units were busy trying to extinguish the fire on the spot.
At the same time, Russia’s Azimuth Airlines was quoted as saying that the plane had made a bad landing due to gust of wind. This means a sudden change in wind speed or direction over a relatively short distance.
Russia’s Federal Aviation Authority Rosaviatsia said it is investigating the incident. Flight tracking website Flightradar24 said the plane was 7 years old.
