Delhi Police has arrested a 25-year-old man who recently returned from Canada in connection with a hit-and-run case in south-west Delhi in which a person was killed. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Surendra Chaudhary said that the accused Paras Pathania was arrested within 12 hours of the accident. More than 50 CCTV footages were scanned to catch him. The accident occurred at 6.30 am on Saturday in front of the World Trade Center near Bhikaji Cama Place on the Ring Road.
Audi collided with Ertiga
The officer said that the Audi car being driven carelessly by the accused collided with an Ertiga vehicle, resulting in the death of its driver Sukhjit Nanda. Sukhjit Nanda was a resident of Hisar, Haryana. Nanda was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. He said that an FIR has been registered at Safdarjung Enclave Police Station and further investigation has been started.
The accused was living in Canada since 2018
Several teams were formed to nab the accused. He said the team analyzed footage from 50 CCTV cameras and tracked the suspect after chasing him for 60 kilometers. The officer said Pathania was arrested from his house in Paschim Vihar area. The accused was living in Canada since 2018 before coming to Delhi in April 2024. DCP said that further investigation in the matter is going on.
