After SP leader Awadhesh Prasad won the Lok Sabha elections from Faizabad, the by -election was held on this seat on Wednesday. There is a main contest between Samajwadi Party and BJP. This by -election has become a fight for prestige between the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Because, this seat is a part of the politically important Ayodhya district.
In fact, after winning the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat in 2024, the by -election is needed here after SP leader Awadhesh Prasad vacated the Milkipur seat. Now, while the SP is trying to maintain this seat, BJP is seeing this election as an opportunity to avenge its defeat in Faizabad. Because, Milkipur was the only assembly seat in Ayodhya district in the 2022 UP assembly elections, which the BJP lost.
65 percent votes cast in the by -election on Wednesday
Out of a total of 3.70 lakh voters in the by -election held on Milkipur seat on Wednesday, more than 65 percent exercised their franchise, which is more than the voting recorded in the 2022 assembly elections. According to the Election Commission, by the completion of polling, 65.35 percent of the votes were cast. In the 2022 assembly elections, the voting percentage on this seat was 60.23.
Which candidate from which party in by -election
Chandrabhan Paswan from BJP is in the fray in the by -election. At the same time, the Samajwadi Party has played a claim on Ajit Prasad, son of Awadhesh Prasad. Both candidates come from Pasi Samaj. The BSP and Congress have made distance from this by-election and have not fielded their candidates. At the same time, Azad Samaj Party of Chandrashekhar Azad has fielded Suraj Chaudhary. Suraj Chaudhary was the leader of the Samajwadi Party in the past and was close to Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad. A total of 10 candidates have been in the fray in the by -election.
