Three idols of two temples were vandalized in Haluaghat sub-district of Mymensingh on Thursday and Friday morning. Quoting temple sources and local people, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Haluaghat police station Abul Khair said that miscreants broke two idols of Bonderpara temple in Shakui Sangh of Haluaghat on Friday morning. He said that no case has been registered yet in this incident and no arrest has been made.
One accused sent to jail
In another incident, criminals broke an idol at the Polashkanda Kali temple in Beeldora union of Haluaghat on Thursday morning. On Friday, the police arrested a 27-year-old man from Polashkanda village for his involvement in the incident. During interrogation, a man named Alal Uddin confessed to the crime. He told that he was produced in Mymensingh court, from where he was sent to jail.
Earlier on Thursday, Polashkanda Kali Mandir Committee President Suvash Chandra Sarkar had registered a case accusing unknown persons. In Dinajpur’s Birganj sub-district, five idols were damaged at the Jharbari Shasan Kali temple on Tuesday. According to the report, this incident came to light on Thursday.
